The **Spyderco Sage 1** is the newest incarnation in the legendary collection of Sage pocket knives. The shape is similar to the other Sage models, but the lock and materials are different.
The scales for the *Spyderco Sage 1* are made from ‘Cool Grey’ G10. You can easily open the blade with the help of the large thumb hole. Characterizing for a Spyderco pocket knife. A solid framelock ensures that your fingers are safe.
## Spyderco in Maxamet steel: GTI amongst the types of steel.
This Spyderco Sage 1 is enhanced with a blade made from Maxamet steel. Quite the upgrade. Maxamet is known for its excellent sharpness retention and hardness. With a little effort a manufacturer can even harden it up to 70HRC. To make sure the knife is still useable this Native 5 is hardened up to (approx.) 66-68 HRC. As such you benefit from exceptional hardness, without compromising when it comes to toughness. This Spyderco Sage 1 Maxamet is, as such, perfect for daily tasks. Do, however, be careful around moisture, salt and acids. Maxamet is namely not stainless. By using it a patina will form on its own. If you leave it out for a couple hours you may already see stains.
Part of the proceeds from the Sage 1 is donated to the National Alzheimer’s Association in Denver, Colorado.
