The series ‘ Le Saint-Bernard ‘ by Fontenille Pataud derives its name from the St. Bernard pass, a hospice with the same name and of course the St. Bernard (dog). The barrel engraved in the blade, is a subtle reference to the last. The Saint Bernards would carry these barrels, filled with cognac, to give back some energy to numb people found in the mountains. The knife makers at Fontenille Pataud have shown their skill again and created very special pocket knives within this knife series. The design is slightly stronger than the traditional Laguiole-knife and therefore lies comfortably in your hand. The solid backlock is easy to unlock at the very end of the handle. The spacious and angular opening at the end, offer comfortable space to a cord or chain. To make sure you don’t lose your unique knife.
When closing the blade, your encounter a ‘stop’. This preserves the sharpness, as the sharp part of the blade doesn’t hit against the inside of the knife.
The handle of this knife is made of Buffalo bark. This natural material is unique with every knife. The rough surface of the horn gives this knife a less polished look. The back of the knife is tastefully decorated. A suede sheath is included.
