The **MKM Root RT-S Santos Wood** is a modern slipjoint. Designed by Jens Anso. One of the most famous knife designers today. His style is characterized by organic shapes and clean lines, which results in tasteful and stylish designs. The MKM Root is no exception.
The blade is enhanced with three cut-outs that offer you enough traction to make sure you easily open the knife with two hands. The blade is made from Böhler M390 steel. This is a type of steel that retains its sharpness well and is incredibly wear-resistant. It is also stainless. One of the most popular choices at the moment. When opened, the blade is held in place with a slipjoint. And yet you can still easily close it: it merely offers resistance, it doesn’t lock the blade. This means you can legally carry it with you almost anywhere. The sheepsfoot-style blade is thin and razor-sharp. This type of shape is mostly suited for daily tasks such as opening boxes and envelopes.
This version of the Root features a handle made from santos wood. Tough, milled lines and a stunning, blue anodized ring around the pivot complement the handle. Like many gentleman’s knives the Root is not enhanced with a pocket clip. Because of a couple ingenious details you won’t miss it. At the end of the handle, milled in the backspacer, you will find a lanyard hole. You use this hole to attach a lanyard. It allows you to easily pull the knife from your pocket. And it adds a little flair! Or you use the leather sheath with belt loop. This belt loop has a magnetic closure. Would you rather not carry it on your belt? You can also carry the sheath as a ‘slip sheath’ in your pocket. This is very comfortable thanks to the supple leather.
## Where does MKM Knives come from?
MKM is a cooperation between Viper, LionSteel, Fox and Mercury. Four masters working in the Italian knife industry. It is no coincidence that they all come from the city of Maniago in northern Italy. The knife capital of the south of Europe. MKM stands for Maniago Knife Makers.
