The **Bark River Bravo 1 LT** is a lighter version of the Bravo 1. This knife was originally designed for (para)military use, specifically for the U.S. Marine Corps. Soon, however, it became evident that this knife was capable of a whole lot more. Today the Bravo 1 LT is beloved among bushcraft enthusiasts and hunters. It is solidly constructed, with enough blade thickness for heavy-duty tasks. At the same time, it’s lightweight enough for treks and hikes. This is an ideal knife that can be used for many purposes.
The blade is made from CPM 3V steel, a tool steel that is known for its exceptional strength. It is very hard to break, and also retains its sharpness well. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: CPM 3V is not completely stainless. Make sure to clean the knife after use and occasionally apply a drop of oil to keep it in great shape. The edge has a convex grind that can be maintained by [stropping](/en/ct/stropping.htm) it.
The handle is made of canvas micarta, which is a strong and lightweight material made from linen and synthetic resin. It feels comfortable in hand, even in wet or cold conditions.
The Bark River Bravo 1 LT comes with a leather belt sheath (max. belt width 8.0 cm). The sheath also has a loop for a firesteel (max. diameter ~7.0 mm).
Bark River Knives makes all of its knives almost entirely by hand. This means that each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials, a knife may differ from the photos. The knife you receive may therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.
