The **Bark River Kephart 4** is a classic fixed knife, designed on the basis of the famous Kephart model from the late 19th century. This is one of the first bushcraft knives. Still topical and beloved amongst bushcraft enthusiasts. Remarkable about the Bark River Kephart 4 is the relatively low weight.
The blade is made from CPM 3CV-steel. A tool steel that is known for its exceptional strength. As such it won’t break and will retain its sharpness well. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: CPM 3V is not completely stainless. So clean it after use and occasionally add a drop of oil to keep this knife in great shape. The edge has been enhanced with a convex grind which you can maintain by stropping it.
The handle is made from Desert Ironwood. A type of hardwood mainly found in the United States and Mexico. Characterizing is the beautiful colour and the rich pattern. This great type of wood makes the knife look extra luxurious.
The Bark River Kephart 4″ comes with a solid leather sheath. This sheath has a belt loop with enough room for belts up to 6.0 cm. There is also a loop for a firesteel.
Bark River makes all of its knives almost completely by hand. As such each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials a knife can differ from the photographs. The knife you receive can therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.
