The **ESEE Izula S35VN** is named after an aggressive ant from the Peruvian jungle. This is to emphasize that despite its size you shouldn’t underestimate this knife. The ESEE Izula is a versatile fixed knife. It will easily find a place in a bag or backpack or can be carried as a neck knife. Despite its size you can easily hold it. At the back you will find a large opening for your little finger to make sure you have an excellent grip. You could, of course, also make a paracord handle to increase the grip. And if you prefer a real handle ESEE also delivers those as an accessory. This, of course, will make the knife a little thicker.
This version of the ESEE Izula is enhanced with a blade made from CPM S35VN steel. This steel retains its sharpness a lot longer than ESEE’s ‘traditional’ 1095 carbon steel. As such you don’t have to sharpen it that often. S35VN is also stainless, which means it doesn’t require a lot of maintenance. As such this knife is great when spending time in the snow, maritime surroundings or when you find yourself in other circumstances where maintaining your knife is not an option. So are there only advantages? No, unfortunately this is a ‘compromise’ as every type of steel is. S35VN is quite tough for a stainless type of steel, however, compared to 1095 carbon steel it is not as tough and flexible. As such this knife is meant for cutting tasks, not batoning. For that purpose you should always bring an axe.
The included plastic sheath looks amazing. The knife is properly secured and won’t spontaneously fall out. A belt clip is included.
