The **Spartan Blades Ares** is a tough survival knife that was made in the United States. Its profile is relatively slim, and yet, because of its 13.8 cm blade, easy to use in the field. Curtis Lovito and Mark Carey, founders of Spartan Blades, both have a military background. Keeping that target group in mind they designed the Spartan Ares. It will look great on your flak jacket and can definitely handle the challenges of a deployment.
The Spartan Ares has a 13.8 cm long blade made from CPM S45VN-steel. You immediately notice the pointed shape. The spine was made even thinner to save weight. And yet, because of the full blade thickness it is still very strong.
The handle is made from top-quality micarta. Micarta is a composite material of linen and synthetic resin. In this case Spartan Blades used *Double Black* micarta. This means that both the synthetic resin and the textile are black. As such the structure of the micarta is hardly visible. You could even say it is G10, while it is still really micarta.
The Spartan Ares comes with a solid kydex sheath. The sheath is enhanced with a mounting clip with MOLLE compatible loops. It is, however, also great that you can choose how to carry it because of the many mounting eyes. Think, for instance, of a Tek-Lok-clip (not included).
